Our model of choice, the Eee PC 1000, features a state of the art solid
state hard drive and Linux software.
It is possible to install Windows XP onto the system, but additional costs
would be incurred, thus making the Eee PC way less economical.
In addition to the cost of licensing and installing the Windows software, the
end user would also have to shoulder the burden of licensing all of the
application software. For most people, adding these expenses to a travel, mini
computer would just not make sense.
The Eee PC comes bundled with a large assortment of Linux programs, so the
end user is not lacking.
