Add a Laptop or a Utility Computer to your Editing Workstation

VideoEditSystems.com is finishing up R&D on a high quality laptop computer (the VES/Delta 3000) as a business tool and/or Utility for your editing workstation.

Initial specs and testing indicate that this laptop will be as (or even more) powerful than any of the top "gaming" portables on the market. As you would imagine, our unit will feature top of the line Nvidia graphics, a powerful  core2 duo processor (with selectable 4 clocking speeds up to 2.9gHz), and all of the bells & whistles one would expect on a professional grade computer suitable for video editing as well as general business. Including the RED Disk restore system. For under three grand! (Specs and detail will be published soon.)

The logic behind using a laptop with your main edit system is threefold. (Notice how things relating to the VES/Delta series often come in three's, like a delta triangle.)

High quality and affordable because we are a manufacturer/importer and deal with the overseas sources themselves. Means that you get a lot of bang for your buck!

A laptop offers you remote or portable editing capability, so that you can rough out a project away from the office. Your creative decisions can later be imported into your VES/Delta workstation and integrated with the AVID software.

But the most important reason to use a laptop (or a utility desktop) with your editing system is to protect it from infection!

Whenever you surf the web, whether it be email or searching for graphics & tunes, you expose your system to threats and other corruptions. You are also extremely vulnerable when you import video files or graphics files from DVD/CD disks that your client may give you. Nasties just love to hide in these complex files.

By using the laptop as your first port of entry, so to speak, you allow your sophisticated and up-to-date virus protection systems to scan for threats prior to unleashing them into your editing system! And, if your laptop should become hopelessly infected.... well, better it than your editing system!

Also, if you keep a second computer close by, you (or your staff) are more likely to use it for your non-editing software applications, rather than loading lots of programs onto the main drive of your editing workstation and increasing the likelihood of corruption and shared file conflicts.

The best way to fix a problem in your computer editing system is to avoid it all together!
